**edited Dec 8, 2015** ME BAD. Me very very bad. Me did not follow directions of Ms Bonnie and didn’t include a link back to the proper linky-dink blog post. HERE it is. I hope I’ve fixed it and all is well in the world again. My apologies for all the inconvenience I have caused.
It is called Allietare which apparently means “to GLADDEN! To REJOICE! To become CHEERFUL!” Check out Bonnie’s blog for the **free** clues and all the information about making this quilt. Bonnie generously does this mystery each year as a thank you to her peeps.
I’m a sucker for a mystery quilt. Throw in the allure of using up some of my scraps and you can count me in.
I have done Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt the last 2 years. It always starts on Black Friday. The first one I did, Celtic Solstice, I LOVED! This quilt is on K4’s bed.
The second one, Grand Illusions, I was ambivalent about. It just seemed too busy to me. However, the blocks were incorporated into my slip cover and into a baby quilt.
This year the colors are based upon Bonnie’s trip to Italy. Here’s my fabric palette.
Step one is a boat-load of 2″ HSTs. I am considering doing it 1/2 size but in order to get it as scrappy as I want to – I have to cut many many strips so I might just go ahead and make all the blocks as instructed and then use them for something else. Or, make two smaller quilts.
Mom is doing this also and now that she’s all up and running with her iPad (GO mama!), I might even be able to include pictures of her version! Anyone else want to join in the fun?
I love your fabric choices. I am tempted to do it. But I read the first clue. 294 half square triangles. Temptation is gone. Also, I am realizing that my stash is a bit depleted in those colors. But I am looking forward to what you will do with it!
Like I said, I’m a sucker for a mystery quilt. I wasn’t going to go with the full size – but I have. I just finished clue 3 and so far, so good. Even my HST blocks don’t look too bad.
It’s AWESOME that you and your Mama are each working on Allietare!!
It is, isn’t it? 🙂 Adds to the fun.
I love all the fun on the mysteries!
Me too! There’s just something about NOT knowing where you’re going that appeals to me. I like surprises in general though.
Great to see your previous mystery quilts.
Thanks Frances!
That Grand Illusion chair is wild! Such a fun slip cover.
Thanks! I love it. I sit in it every day to meditate. I have my favorite pillow on it (in the same colors) that says “Not my circus, Not my monkey”. 🙂
love your fabrics, and great chair cover!
Thank you!
