I’m going to do the Celtic Solstice Mystery Quilt that Bonnie Hunter is launching November 29th. I’m going to use up a TON of my scraps. My friends Mary and Candy have once again roped me in. I swear – Bonnie must be the queen of scrap quilts. I don’t know where she’s been all my (quilting) life. HERE is the link to her page about the mystery quilt. There’s still time to get on board! There is also a facebook page for those that want a little bit more interaction.
And, she sometimes has a QUILTCAM. I listened to her the other day while cutting strips for my mini-nine patch. HERE is the link for that little project, it’s from CrazyMomQuilts. I’m doing this one with my Japanese Taupe leftovers from my New York Beauty quilt. I’ve decided to go with 1 & 1/2″ strips (rather than 1″) and I’m going to do them in a non-traditional pattern (i.e. NOT darks and lights – rather just whatever 9 pieces come together). It’s my next leader/ender project.
Since taking the photos above, I’ve found even more fabrics that work in my color selection. Basically, I’m going through all my totes and bins and bags and separating all my fabrics into colours – the exception being if they are part of a ‘category’ of fabrics (like Japanese Taupes, Reproductions, Batiks, etc). My ping pong table is now covered to overflowing with scraps. It is certainly organized chaos!
Oh, and here’s my new family members….
