Ok – I know I said I wasn’t going to start any new projects until I finished the ones on my GET IT FINISHED list. Well, I sorta HAD to start something new as I was at a stopping point with all my other projects (well, most of them anyway!). I’m waiting for the backing fabric for both Grandmother’s Choice and my New York Beauty. I’m waiting for fabric for the borders for my appliquéd basket quilt. I can only do so much hand quilting each day on my Traveler’s Quilt. When I started these 2 projects, I was waiting for Mr. W to sand my boards in order to do some more painting (plus my soft brayer hasn’t arrived yet). So, as you can tell, I really HAD to start something new. 🙂
I had some left over fabric from the Grandmother’s Choice quilt. And I had some left over blocks. I made 2 table toppers. They aren’t big – only about 40-45 inches square but they will look lovely on a table or draped over the back of a chair, don’t you think? I’m hoping there is enough backing fabric left over from Grandmother’s Choice for these two. When I get back to my FMQing, I think I’ll start with these two and then progress to the big one.
The design for the 2nd quilt came from It’s a Fiber Life who also happens to be the designer of Mickey Dupree’s Pieced Hexies – which might be my next travel project. I’m seriously getting caught up here!
Today I went back to my Artist’s Journal project and have 4 signatures ready to sew together. The next step is the outer cover. I have a really nicely eco-printed piece of wool that I’m going to embellish with stitching and beading and stuff.
