Well, I did it. I made it to the end of the month and completed the kettle bell challenge. Whoop! Whoop! See me doing the happy dance!
I did a total of 371/371 Turkish Get Ups (TGU) & 7210 swings. At the start of the month, I couldn’t do one-handed swings or transfers with the 12kg kettle bell nor could I do double hand swings with the 16kg bell. Now, 31 days later, I am doing singles with the 12kg and doubles with the 16kg. As far as the TGU go – I was doing them naked (without weight) to the hand at the beginning of the month and by the end of the month, I was doing them with the 5kg to lunge, the 8kg to hand AND a few naked to standing.
My goal for 2013 is to do a full Turkish Get Up TO STANDING and back – with the 8kg kettlebell. Now…..that’s a mother of a goal! The other thing I’d like to learn in 2013 is to swing double kettlebells. To do that though, I need to invest in another kettle bell so that I have twins.
In addition to added strength (always a good thing as you get older!) another bonus is that my non-stretch jeans fit better now at the end of the month than they did at the beginning of the month. And truly – I didn’t miss out on a thing. I had a couple parties where I indulged in moderation. For Christmas I made one of my favorite desserts and ate my fill of it. In general, I was totally fine with not stuffing my pie hole over and over again. Now……if I can just keep it up!
So……it’s back to our regularly scheduled blogs about quilting and eco-dyeing and art and whatever else trips my trigger!
