ok – I know this has absolutely nothing to do with quilting, crafting or art of any form BUT –
I just want to go on record publicly saying that I am embarking on a kettlebell challenge for the month of December.
This challenge involves two components…..Turkish Get Ups and Kettlebell Swings.
Each day, I need to do a Turkish Get Up (TGU), left and right side. So, on the 1st, I’ll do one on the right and one on the left. On the 10th, I’ll do 10 on the left and 10 on the right. On the 31st…..well, I’ll probably be flat out getting them in (or flat out with exhaustion!).
The problem for me is that because of knee issues, I can’t do a PROPER TGU – but I do have a variation that I’ll be doing which will hopefully build up my strength so that some day – I’ll be able to do a proper one. My variation? Up to the kneeling/lunge position. And instead of using a weight – I’m going to use a shoe.
Here’s what a TGU is…..
And swings……1000 week 1, 1500 week 2, 2000 week 3, 2500 week 4. I’m currently doing about 1500 swings per week so the last 2 weeks will really stretch me.
Here’s what a swing is…..
I LOVELOVELOVE kettlebells. I’m now on the end of week 7 of working out with them three times per week. My ‘wardrobe’ of kettlebells includes an 8kg (18pound), a 12kg (26pound) and a 16kg (35 pounds). I think a 20kg (44 pounds) needs to be on my shopping list.
Anyone want to join me?
