Jude Hill has her Spirit Cloth. Dijanne Cevaal has her Traveler’s Quilt. Elaine Lipson has her Slow Cloth. So many other people I’m ‘meeting’ in the online Spirit Diaries journey have their own cloths they are working on. Spend a few minutes on Google Images and you will be overwhelmed with the beauty of this work.
I am fascinated and enthralled by the entire process. From the thought that goes into each stitch to the techniques used to the artistic expression of their lives. It absolutely captivates me.
Then there is Japanese Boro and Kantha cloth to explore and salivate over. The stories behind these pieces of cloth must be amazing – if we only knew the history behind these antique bits and pieces.
In many ways I try to force myself NOT to ‘follow the leader’. I like to think that I go to the beat of my own drum. Having said that – the filter that Jude is exploring in the Spirit Diaries course is “wings”. So, I’ve been playing with wings a little in my own little cloth (which is yet to be named). I’ve also been stitching (freeform) wisteria……it’s in bloom right now and is absolutely breathtaking.
Right now though…..I’m heading to the beach. The surf is calling my name.
