Are you sick of this one yet?
I ended up doing a faced edge – and just cut it freehand so there are slight curves on the edges. I have a sleeve attached to the back so it’s ready to hang above the fireplace in the little house – I just need a stick and to figure out how to attach it to the brick.
I REALLY like the quilting. That’s probably the part I like the best. Also, I like the freeform piecing. And, I love the colors. I love the fact that many of my friends and family contributed their fabrics (thanks everyone!).
What I don’t like…..I’m not 100% pleased with the raw edge appliqued swirls. They aren’t bad – but to my eye, they stand out just a little too much. By quilting swirls on top of the swirls, I think it lessens their presence – but they still stand out to me. Maybe slightly lighter colors would have worked or maybe I could have tried putting a sheer fabric over top of them to make them visible but less so.
Overall – I’m pleased. And glad it’s finished.
