Scattered post warning. Several little things to record!
First off – my FMQ assignment for September from SewCalGal. Paula Reid was the tutor this month. Her motif work is so nice. Mine? Not so much. I don’t think motif work is my thing. Or, if it ever was to become my thing, I’d have to do a lot of practicing. For now – I’ll stick to the more free-form organic methods of free motion quilting. Here is a picture of the motif from the lesson on some hand dyed rusted fabric.
Next on the list – my free motion quilt project with Leah Day. We’ve started a new phase – pivoting designs. The first one paisley. Here’s some of my practice work. I’m actually using this on a REAL quilt but only have it about 1/4 finished so will hold off on the show and tell of that project until later.
While the cleaning wench was going through shelves in the little house, she ran across 2 small bag kits, complete with hardware, that I had been carting around for years. The fabrics in the kits were no longer appealing but a quick rummage uncovered options. Here are two finished bags.
I’m back into my art journal process. I leave the mess set up so that every day I do something – even if it’s only to slap some paint on a page of paper. My stack of ephemera is huge so I try to go through a little of that each day and pull out what I think I’ll use in the future. Here’s the start of my latest spread:
That’s it for now. I’ve started on a new project – spirit cloth, travelers cloth, slow cloth, Boro, Kantha inspired but it is so OUT THERE and without clear direction that I don’t really have anything to show yet. I’ll write more about it and the influences for it when I get a few minutes. Now though? I think it’s time to go swing my kettlebells.
