The thought crosses my mind…..is this good? Is this art? Is this practice? Is this rubbish? Is this just the work of a three-year-old?
My next thought is…..who gives a rat’s ass? I had an absolute blast doing it and I like it so nothing else matters. I’ve already started planning my next one!
Process: water color paper/cotton fabric slow cooked with eco-matter (flowers, leaves, rusted items); add some paint; add some embroidery; fringe the edges of the cover; add some free motion quilting to the paper; 2 holes in each paper and the cover; rough buttonhole stitch the holes of the cover; torn cotton tie; elastic w/button for closure that expands as I fill the journal with ephemera. I plan to distress the elastic w/paint and rust as soon as I can.
Actually……I like it SO much – especially the papers – that I think I would have trouble adding ephemera and writing to the pages. Go figure. 🙂
