Well, we’re back from our May holiday and hitting the ground running with Leah Day‘s FREE free motion quilt-along. Not to toot my own horn – but baby…..I’ve come a LONG way with my free motion quilting since the start of this program and I have Leah to thank for that.
Heads up for those that don’t regularly follow Leah Day….she’s just released both the e-book version and the paper version of her 365 quilt patterns. I’m hanging out for the paper version…..it will be on my next Amazon order for sure! You can check it out here.
I’m so charged up with learning free motion quilting that I’m pulling (pushing?) my small quilt group peeps to come along for the ride. Ms. A and I have organized a FMQ day for the group in order to get everyone some more practice. We’ve organized a cushion (pillow) panel for everyone to stipple. Pot luck and a 10-4 quilting day at a local university is scheduled. I’m hoping to share a little bit of what I’ve learned the last 5 months with them.
Back to Leah – last week the pattern was ‘circuit board’. I finally had time to at least try the circuit board on a couple mug rugs. I plan to go back and do more of this pattern because I really like it-although I’m not very good at it yet. You wouldn’t think so but you really have to THINK when doing this pattern in an attempt to keep your spacing even and to keep from locking yourself into a corner. It’s like a maze…..only you’re creating the maze instead of trying to find your way out of the maze. Hmmmm……that could describe parts of my life……ANYWAY………
This week was a loop-d-loo.
I just finished a large sewing assignment for the local quilt shop so I’ll be back to doing my own thing this week. It’s time to get a few more items pin basted – I’m itching to do more FMQ!
