I still don’t know what I’m going to do with my rusted fabric – but today I started playing with it.
I cut 15×15 inch pieces of freezer paper and attached them to the rusted muslin & rusted cheese cloth.
Using the Jacquard dye-na-flow & textile paints and my new paint stiks, I let my three year old out to play. Some of the things we used were: a plastic hot pad, bubble wrap, some grout spreaders, sponge stamps and a paper towel roll covered in different things. During my latest trip to the hardware store I bought some chisels and I discovered some old lino tile in the shed so I’m working on carving up some stamps. I also want to try some resist work……I’m thinking to start with a flour resist but what I’d really like is to source some soy wax and try that technique.
I like playing/painting on fabric much better than doing it on paper. Something about painting on paper is intimidating to me…..crazy, I know.
