With Her Mister away on a boys’ holiday, Ms. R decided to have a Friday night gathering of the quilt gals. We all brought our beverage of choice and our favorite toppings for pizza (pepperoni, artichokes, semi-dried tomatoes, anchovies, kalamata olives & parma cheese for me!). I made a batch of Scottish shortbread to take but it was a flop so I left it at home for Mr. W.
We had 3 pizzas – and it was hard to choose a winner. One Mexican mountain, one Filipino-inspired and the third a vegetarian with caramelized onions and sweet potato. We were too full after those 3 to continue on with the competition so I never did make a pizza with my ingredients.
Ms. A was in charge of dessert and she made an ‘OMG I’ve died and gone to heaven’ chocolate pudding (for the Americans….not a pudding as in JELLO pudding but a pudding as in a chocolate cake with sauce….sorta like a volcano cake).
Most of us showed up in our jajas…….the youngest among us in a sexy black and pink number….the more mature (age wise) of the group in our flannels and leggings.
Beds were available for those that wanted to spend the night.
I scored a ‘come early’ invitation under the guise of helping (ok, it might have just been an excuse to have a pre-party drink).
What an enjoyable evening. Talk, laughter, plotting, music, food, drink…..all good things.
I brought several quilt projects just in case I was ubber (or “ueber” if you are Mr. W and think you know everything about German pronunciation) productive. Ahhhh,,,,,yeah…….riiiiightttt…….I’m a dreamer! The only thing that I pulled out of my bag was a couple finished show & tell projects.
As I am possibly the world’s LOUDEST snorer (think freight trains and fog horns), I headed home about 10pm to snooze next to Mr. W (who luckily, is deaf in one ear!).
Fun, fun, fun!
(My little friend in the picture is from the last quilt retreat I went to…..thanks Chris!)
