Thanks Leah for the week off! It worked out well as I was without a sewing machine until 12 March 2012. When I picked it up I was scolded somewhat severely. Apparently I haven’t been as good taking Ms. Janome in for servicing as I should be. They said it was no wonder she was chugging…..she was totally impacted with lint under the thread plate and her oil wicks were dry. (I’m so sorry!)
While I was unable to sew for 2 1/2 weeks, I was able to do some prep work. I had 5 small quilt sandwiches and a small quilt ready for her return.
I also bought a few things while on sewing hiatus…..6 meters of batting and two types of thread that I haven’t worked with before.
I also discovered a free online tutorial using spray baste method by Patsy Thompson. I’m not sure if I’m going to try this or not but it really looks slick. I’m trying to figure out which wall I could use…I might need to get some 4×8 sheets of plywood or something to use…..
My dry erase board has gotten a workout the last couple weeks too so I haven’t been a total FMQ slacker.
I do have a question for Leah…..how would you recommend I go about quilting a piece with uneven sides? Here’s a picture of my 3 fractured reality quilts. The two on the right have uneven bottoms. Do I sew scrap borders onto them before I quilt them? Also, any suggestions for a pattern? Thanks!
Now though……it’s time to get back to work or as Leah says……”let’s go quilt”!
