My brown postage stamp quilt. Hand quilted in bed last winter in the mornings waiting for the fire to heat the house up. It’s a small lap size. I love it.
Grandmother’s Flower garden – paper pieced and hand quilted. Had my entire family doing the basting of the hexagon pieces – even my (then young) nephews. Think it took me 15 years to finally finish it. There’s always hope, isn’t there?
Forest Floor – made with left overs and machine quilted. Typically is folded over the arm of the couch in the living room.
Red & Beige Snowball quilt – given to Mr. W on my first trip to Australia. Has a flannel back and we use it in the winter in front of the TV. It’s a perfect quilt for two!
Retreat Quilt – Kay and Karen made this for me to take to retreats. We used to have a ‘gang’ that retreated together frequently and everyone in the gang had a similar quilt – only in THEIR colors. We don’t so much retreat together anymore - correction, there is still a gang but it has different members. Life moves on.
I’m sure this sweet little quilt has a name but I can’t remember it. It is made out of pastel hand-dyed fabrics that we bought at market one year when we owned the shop. Love the quilting on it. It’s a meandering floral doodle.

This was my first quilt made using paper piecing. I think it was also the first one I made with Japanese fabrics – Mrs. Marple line or something like that. I love the colors. I loved sewing it. I hated pulling all the paper out of it. I love the quilting and the light weight feel of the quilt. When it’s not on the bed, it’s hanging over the door in the bedroom.
This is the 2nd quilt I made using Japanese fabrics – these are Japanese Taupes. This is another of my favorites and it too resides in the bedroom. Usually folded up on the end of the bed ready for my afternoon napitation (nap/meditation).

This first one is my latest completed project – my Australia Quilt. I started collecting fabrics for this quilt a LONG time ago. As I recall, it was after my first trip to Australia and I was just amazed by the colors. It started with a Karen Stone New York Beauty (paper pieced) pattern and workshop. Ten (plus?) years in the making and it is finally finished. I love it. I love the colors. I love the pattern. I love the quilting (which was done by my sista). The only thing I don’t love is the look of it on the wall in our bedroom……it’s just too much color or something.
Yesterday, I had quilt group at our house so I hung it on the front veranda to show off. Yeah……I know…..wanker, right? I don’t care though – I loved looking at it. Off and on through-out the day, I’d glance out the window and look at it and just smile. Mostly because I can’t believe I ever finished the sucker.

Your quilt is beautiful! We took the class in 2002….. I made one block and gave up. You’re the master…………..
Where do you keep all this information? Your mental filing cabinet organization system is FABULOUS!
This is probably the most gorgeous quilt I’ve ever seen. This is what I aspire to. Thank you so much for sharing. Avis x
