Leah Day is having a FMQ Friday link-up. Rather than following & quilting what she is working on for the week – we can post whatever FMQ project we’ve been working on. Very relaxing Leah – thank you!
I think FMQ’ing has become a type of meditation for me. When I don’t feel like doing anything else – when I can’t be bothered to come up with something creative and inspiring, when I just need a veg out session – I put on my darning foot, pull out a chunk of fabric, put some relaxing music on the stereo and doodle (FMQ) away.
I did that today. My creative mojo is still resting – my muse is hiding out under a quilt somewhere – so today I just took a deep breath and did some quilting. It felt good.
On a non-quilting related note….I was doing the dishes about an hour ago and looked out the window to the back and in the compost area along side my little house was a SORTA big goanna. It was just short of a meter long (unlike the one last year that was at least 2 meters long!).
Mr. W had advised me earlier in the week that he had seen a rather large (18″ long and as wide as his forearm) blue tongued lizard in the area so not to be alarmed. I had been noticing some increased noise underneath my little house floor when I was meditating and doing yoga so I just figured that was it. A copper tailed lizard is no big deal. A SORTA big goanna is something else though. Not sure how to get rid of it……it’s illegal to kill them. I wouldn’t want to corner it though because they can be aggressive.

Your fabric “meditation” results are wonderful! I like the way Leah is doing the “Linky” this time around, too. Am definitely NOT a fan of such critters!!!
me neither. If they stay in the bush – I’m ok with them….but in my back yard – they make me nervous.
love your FMQ, not so impressed by your “friend”, though!
yeah…..my friend needs to be relocated and SOON!
Your FMQ is lovely and um, I hope you’re able to get rid of the lizard. That would freak me out.
Yes……relocation is necessary to avoid freak-out!
It always feels good to FMQ, I love it too… food for your soul ♥
so true….I like that….food for your soul.
Love the quilting !! Now the goanna is a different story…. my dad always said, “leave them alone and they’ll leave you alone”…
Good Luck!
Karen
Thank you. Yeah…..typically they will leave you alone as long as you don’t corner them. Unfortunately, it keeps returning to an area that we humans frequent often.
Wow! Your fmq is so awesome. I haven’
t actually quilted anything in so long, I may have forgotten how. lol
Thanks Mary. It will come back to you quickly as soon as you start.
I agree that it’s very meditative as well. Yours is beautiful and meditative
Thanks Becky!
Love your quilting.
Thanks Lorraine!
The quilting is gorgeous.
The largest lizard I’ve ever seen out of a captive environment was a relatively small, non-agressive, non-toxic, non-biting garter snake several feet ahead of me on a path in a conservation area outside of town. And that made me uncomfortable. A goanna in the back yard? Suddenly feeling less bothered by the cold, snowy Canadian winter….
You make me smile! It’s funny though….having lived in cold and snowy and blowy South Dakota most of my life – I’ll take the odd Goanna.
let nature be…humans have taken over so much of the planet and eradicated native habitats…as long as a creature is not an immediate threat to your physical safety, let it go on its way….
THanks for your concern. No worries though. We use gentle methods to encourage it to go back to the bush. We even have a local that will help with relocation if it becomes necessary.
