The idea of working in a series keeps crossing my consciousness lately.
There was an online workshop that looked interesting – but I was a couple days late in being able to sign up for it. (Plus, I’m not very good at actually DOING online workshops….I like to read the material, but I don’t always follow along.)
I’ve run across the idea on other blogs and in magazines.
I’ve been reviewing how I basically DID work in a bit of a series in 2012 with my FMQ focus.
Looking back at my fractured reality work – that was a mini-series of work.
Ideas I’m kicking around…..eco and/or fabric dyeing, embroidery/stitching on eco/fabric dyed fabrics, keeping things to a specific size. Then the other idea I had was to just try a different technique or idea each month of the year. But that feels a bit more scattered than I want. Scattered isn’t necessarily bad though. Maybe I just do what I like….whenever…..whatever……hmmmm…..do what trips my trigger on the day…..whatever floats my boat……who says I need a focus?
Who knows what I’ll decide.
Here are a couple articles/posts about working in a series if you’re interested….

I have a feeling that no matter how you choose to work, it will bring you back to the eco and fabric dyeing. Seems to be your thing lately. And we have to follow our heart when it comes to quilting. Otherwise, it can turn into drudgery. But however you decide to work this year, I can’t wait to see what you do! BTW…how are your NYBs coming along? I think I have four made….being the tortoise that I am!!
Good job on the NYB blocks! I’m plugging along. I’ve now remembered why I said I’d never do another one…..pulling the bloody paper out of the blocks. I have a blog post almost ready with a NYB update – stay tuned.
Yep…I’m not a big fan of paper piecing. But it does make those blocks go together nicely.
I think I will focus on learning some hand stitching for embroidery. I would like to be able to have nicer hand stitches on my wool pieces. And more variety too.
Sounds like a good plan. I keep thinking – each night – that I’m going to do some stitches on my travellers blanket – but so far it is just sitting in a heap next to the couch. I have absolutely NO motivation or incentive to do much of anything crafty/artsy. All I’ve been doing is reading, yoga, kettlebells and meditation right now.
