I’m doing an online class with Dijanne. Her travellers blanket was featured in the latest issue of Art Quilter.
I had this old piece of tone on tone print that I folded up and gave a dip in a walnut bath. I’m using the back side of the fabric as the front.

Then I selected these pieces of silk from some of my eco-dyeing experiments.
Cut them into shapes and then basted them down onto the base cloth
Selected some Cosmos embroidery threads last night and am now ready to get started with the stitching process.
I’m not sure what my ‘story’ of this piece of work will be……maybe it won’t actually have a story – just the process of experimenting. Just the enjoyment of sitting and stitching. Maybe no striving – to angst – no plan…….just enjoyment.

I just turned on my ‘puter and your post came up. In a previous comment I mentioned the descriptive “eerie” when seeing some of your pieces. Indeed, this is, also, the case. I have just begun to watch tonight’s movie (Harry Potter) and your photos ‘fit’ this so perfectly!!!!! I do find your fabrics so appealing and am so glad I “found” your site!!! New Year’s Blessings and Joy to you, hugs, D
awww…..Thanks Doreen! Blessings & Joy back at you. If I have room in my suitcase – I’ll bring you a few pieces of this eerie fabric when we come back later this year, ok?
Sounds like a marvelous plan…..or, maybe, I could purchase (?) a piece from you…..hmmmmmm????
I haven’t even started mine.
You’ll get there, Mary…..you’ve had a lot on your plate! Can’t wait to see what you do.
Your traveller’s blanket is going to be beautiful and I’m sure it will hold many memories once completed. Happy New Year !
Thanks Robyn. I started stitching last night and I think I’m going to like it. I almost wish I would have made it bigger.
